Many non-profits have eagerly climbed aboard the social media train. Not only are they using sites like Twitter and Facebook to promote their causes, they are also connecting to their supporters and encouraging them to use these sites as tools. The majority of organizations are using at least two of Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, MySpace and Flickr. Some take it even farther. Live Earth encourages supporters to join their Online Movement, and Save Darfur asks people to download a special toolbar that raises contributions with each search, at no cost to the user. The Alzheimer’s Association provides several dynamic widgets that can easily be placed on blogs and websites.
