About: To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggle with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. They believe that people were created to love and be loved, and they have a vision of a world with better endings. It’s impossible to describe the depth and beauty of their vision better than they do themselves, so we’re not going to try. TWLOHA is not only about positive reinforcement and support, but it is also about increasing awareness, and raising money for treatment and recovery programs.
In 2006, founder Jamie Tworkowski, helped a drug-addicted youth get sober. In an effort to raise money for her treatment, he printed some t-shirts with the TWLOHA slogan. Next thing he knew, Switchfoot singer and guitarist, Jon Foreman, was wearing one on stage, and TWLOHA was born. Since then, TWLOHA has impacted thousands of teenagers, reaching out to them through social media and connecting through the music community. Last month, Tworkowski was recognized for his hard work as he was named the winner of MTV’s Good Woodie at the 2009 Woodie Awards.
